Poundland shoppers across Scotland will now be able to earn points on purchases they make both in store and online.

The budget discounter has announced that it has rolled out its first ever rewards app nationwide today (October 17). Dubbed ‘Poundland Perks’, it is officially available to download for free via Google Play and the App Store.

It follows a successful trial of the app across 100 stores across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Wight in September. It is now available at all 850+ UK stores following Poundland’s £20 million investment to deliver great value to its customers.

The loyalty scheme will allow customers to earn ‘perk points’ when they make purchased in store and online. Once they have reached 5,000 points, they can then turn them into a digital reward voucher, or they can save them for a bigger purchase in the future.

Shoppers will also be provided with at least 100 perk offers across a variety of products via the app. To be provided with points and discounts, shoppers need to simply scan the app at the checkout.

To celebrate the launch, Poundland has “powered up” perk points across every item in store, providing 100 points for every £1 spent until Christmas. There’s also the opportunity to win points and prizes with the ‘Spin to Winsday’ game that will take place every Wednesday from October 23.

Meanwhile, the budget retailer’s partnership with Unilever there will be six exclusive top perk offers across a variety of family favourite brands for the first six weeks. This includes Domestos, Lynx, Pot Noodle, Dove and more.

Poundland’s Director of Digital, Tom Hill, said: “Today’s a really important day for our customers as we open up a new digital world that gives them the chance to save, earn and play through their smartphone, making shopping with us even more fun, and even more amazing value – whether instore or online.

“Thanks to our pilots in Scotland, Northern Ireland and on the Isle of Wight, we’ve created an app that’s convenient and easy for people to use in store, with reward vouchers that help customers save even more

“So far, we’ve already had over 500,000 customers sign up through our digital platforms and are looking forward to welcoming many more. We’re doing things differently to other retailers, delivering extra value on top of our everyday low prices and we know from our pilots that our customers love the increased value and simplicity that the Perks app provides.

“We’re thrilled to be launching this across the UK today.”

Poundland will be embarking on a nationwide tour with its caravan cafe in major towns and cities to encourage customers to download the new app. Supported by Nescafe, it will come to Scotland, alongside North of England and Ireland in the New Year.
