Aberdeen are riding the crest of a wave at the moment, with Jimmy Thelin‘s 13-game winning streak since taking up the reins at Pittodrie leaving the Dons as the only team in Europe’s top 50 nations to have won every one of their matches in all competitions this season.

The Swede faces his biggest challenge in the hot seat so far when he takes his side to Glasgow to face Premiership champions Celtic on Saturday. And while the former Elfsborg boss remains ultra-focused on the job in hand, there is a really team spirit building amongst his ranks in the Granite City.

Ahead of the game, the club’s social media team put out a clip in which several members of the first team were asked to name their most famous follower on Instagram. While the likes of Jamie McGrath and Dante Polvara took a light-hearted approach to the question by naming teammate Jack Mackenzie as their most famous follower in the wake of his call-up to the Scotland national team, other players in the squad were more than happy to reel off some big names who are among their followers on the social media platform.

Croatian midfielder Ante Palaversa – who joined Aberdeen from Ligue 2 club Troyes in the summer, named ex Celtic star and current Union Berlin full back Josip Juranovic as his star follower. The duo played together at Hajduk Split between 2017 and 2019 before midfielder Palaversa won a £7million move to Premier League giants Manchester City.

Winger Vicente Besuijen picked his former Netherlands youth international teammate and Justin Kluivert – who now turns out for Bournemouth – as his most famous follower while centre back Angus MacDonald revealed that he is followed by ex Premier League and England defender Michael Dawson, who he briefly played with at Hull City. Fellow defender Gavin Molloy also had a decent shout, with the Irishman revealing that he is followed by Brighton and Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson.

But Dons teammates Leighton Clarkson and Duk went one step further by name-dropping two Champions League winners as their most famous follower. Clarkson rose through the ranks at Liverpool and boasted that Anfield superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold follows him on Instagram, while Duk opted to go for Chelsea forward Joao Felix, who started his second spell with the Stamford Bridge club earlier this season.
