Brendan Rodgers knew it would not take long for tongues to wag after being pictured with Kieran Tierney.

The Celtic boss was snapped chatting with his old charge last weekend. Rodgers and Tierney were together at the Celtic FC Foundation’s London Gala event with an image emerging of the pair in conversation. Straight away, talk of the Scotland full-back returning to his former club from Arsenal resurfaced amongst fans after the picture emerged and the Parkhead boss was made aware of it. Rodgers said: “It was great to see him. I’ve always been in contact with Kieran, when we were both down there. It was really nice to see him.

“Obviously, he has been out injured, so it was a nice touch by the club to invite him. He was a great player for this club and it’s unfortunate how it’s gone for him at Arsenal with his injury and stuff. But it doesn’t take much now to get tongues wagging!”
