Charlotte Chilton, star of The Traitors, has welcomed her baby with Conor Maynard, despite his previous claims of not being ready for fatherhood. In June, the 33-year-old recruitment manager from Warwickshire revealed that her co-star’s sister’s brother was the father of her unborn child.
She starred in the popular BBC show alongside winner Harry Clark, who is currently dating Anna Maynard – Conor’s younger sister. Conor, a musician known for his Drake covers on YouTube, had a brief relationship with Charlotte after meeting her at a club on the night of The Traitors’ final.
Despite previously announcing that Conor was the father of her first child, he reportedly told her he wasn’t prepared to be a dad. In a recent social media post, Charlotte announced the arrival of her baby, writing: “Princess Penelope has arrived and we have been enjoying our ‘Penelope bubble’ so much,I am going to be off the radar for a little longer, whilst I enjoy these magical moments with my precious girl! ! Thank you to all that have checked in to make sure I am ok! ! My heart is full xx.”
This follows Charlotte’s previous comments about her pregnancy and impending motherhood: “I’m doing this on my own. I don’t need him. I don’t need his money. I would only want him involved if he wanted to be.”
When she first broke the news to Conor, he initially seemed receptive until, according to Charlotte, they began discussing co-parenting, reports the Mirror.
In an emotional admission to Metro, she revealed: “The minute I started talking about co-parenting and being understanding of his work schedule, he obviously was a bit disappointed that I was doing that.”
The pictures of the baby scans she sent him came with a message: “Feel free to respond whenever you’re ready,” signalling her frustration at the situation. Charlotte disclosed: “I’m prepared to do this alone, but I’m not prepared to have my daughter have to grow up and not be able to say who her father is, or should I say, birth father, or hide it from her. She deserves to know where she comes from. I’m not a secret, she’s not a dirty secret. I won’t be silenced. I am standing up for myself regardless of if it comes back to me. I just can’t do this be quiet, and shut up anymore.”
When Gloria Hunniford on Loose Women probed about whether she’d want Conor involved in her child’s life, she responded: “I’m always torn with what’s best for her. For me and my mental health, and the damage that he’s done to me, absolutely not. I absolutely wouldn’t want that But, I’m an adult and I understand what I’ve entered into here and if that’s how it has to be then I have to suck it up and put her first.”
