PRINCETON, W. Va. – On Saturday, Princeton Public Library patrons got into the Halloween spirit with a special spooky event, aimed at an older demographic.

This was the library’s first-ever “Booooktacular,” a Halloween party for those sixteen and up. There, participants could eat some festive food, make a spooky craft, and hear an original, never-before-heard, scary story from a local author, Kellie Honaker.

This author says this is the first time reading one of her stories for this many people. We asked her what it is about these frightening tales that makes them so popular.

“It’s Halloween, and I think everyone is still… a kid at heart, and they like… feeling the atmosphere of autumn and Halloween, and you know, they just like the vibes I think,” says Honaker.

If you would like to learn how to write your own short stories like this one, Honaker says you should go for it and consider joining her at the Princeton Public Library’s monthly writers group. You can find out when that will be held on the library’s website.
