Anything that makes household chores easier to smash through is a winner in our book, especially when it comes to one of the most faff-heavy: mopping. Buckets are often difficult to fill in the sink, it’s tough to get the right amount of water on the mophead for an efficient clean, and they have a tendency to go stale very quickly.

The Vileda Turbo Microfibre Mop and Bucket Set seeks to undo all of those inconveniences, and it’s a hit with CleanTok — for the uninitiated, that’s the cleaning-focused section of video platform TikTok. Currently down to £34.99 down from £39.99 on Amazon, and with a £39.99 option that comes with a spare mop head, now is a great time to pounce on a mop that’s far easier to use than the average one.

With a pedal-operated wringer, you can quickly and easily control how much water is left on the mophead without needing to twist the mop yourself. If you’ve ever accidentally twisted a mop and sent the bucket spinning around your floor, you’ll particularly appreciate this feature. If you want to wring it completely dry, just 5-10 pedal presses will do the trick.

Elsewhere, the bucket’s got an easy-carry handle, and the mop handle is telescopic — extending from 55cm to 130cm — to ensure you can reach every inch of your floors. What’s more, thanks to the microfibre mop heads, Vileda claims it can kill 99.9% of bacteria, including E. coli and S. aureus, without needing any disinfectant.

From over 78,000 ratings, this mop and bucket set has an average Amazon rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, almost 60,000 of which gave five stars. “I love this mop. It’s so easy to use. It’s quick and easy. It’s great that you spin it and the mop is only as wry as you want it to be. I also love it because it does not damage the flooring because the mop is not wet just damp which is better for the flooring,” said one happy customer.

Another user vouched for its detergent-free cleaning power: “Gets in all corners and cleans along skirtings. I’ve tried it with detergent but found it cleaned just as well without any at all. The telescopic handle folds down for cupboard storage. The pedal for the spinner/ringer works well it’s a clever design. Really good product.” Others have highlighted how easy it is to use the right amount of water, thanks to the pedal spinner. “Does not overwet the floor love it. Sturdy and very efficient good value for money,” said another five-star review.

Unfortunately, the age-old bucket-filling problem has reared its head for some customers. “I couldn’t fit it into the sink to fill it, instead I had to use a jug,” griped one review. Another shopper added: “I’m finding this does not wring out as effectively as I had expected.”

Alternatively, Debenhams stocks this Rotating Dual Spin Dry Mop and Bucket which comes with three microfibre heads. At a similar price to Vileda, you could consider a steam mop instead, such as this £40 Russell Hobbs option at Dunelm.
