Alana, 27, who was the driver of the Ford vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

A 24-year-old man, a passenger in the Ford, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 52-year-old man, was taken to Crosshouse University Hospital in Kilmarnock with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sergeant Martin Cunningham said: “Our thoughts remain with Alana’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch.

“In particular, if you were driving in the area at the time please check your dash-cam to see if you have anything that could help with our investigation.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1148 of Thursday, 17 October, 2024.

The fresh police appeal comes as a local pub launched a fundraiser for Alana’s family

The Railway Inn Darvel posted: “Alana deserves the BEST send off possible, so as of today [Friday] – we will have a donations box on the bar to help towards funeral costs. Let’s raise as much as we can, help her family as much as possible and give Alana the beautiful service she deserves.”

The bar previously said: “We are completely shocked and heartbroken to hear of the passing of Alana.

“This girl was the life and soul of any party. She was a beautiful young girl, adored by us as her colleagues & our customers. She had a true heart and helped anyone who needed it. Her infectious smile and huge personality will be sorely missed.

“Alana, you really were 1 in a million. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family & friends. We love you Alana.”

Darvel Bowling Club, where Alan worked, also said on Friday: “Our committee and members are devastated at the loss of our barmaid and friend Alana Muir.

“Alana was always eager to help and with her huge personality made such an impact within our club to both members and visitors. We shall sorely miss her cheery, smiling face and the brightness she brought with her.

“We would also like to pass our deepest condolences to her family & friends although words just don’t seem enough.

“Yesterday we lost a friend, heaven gained an angel. Fly high sweet girl.”
