The experts behind the Heinz Beanz secret recipe have shared their top tips for preparing and serving the dish.

According to YouGov, beans on toast ranks among the most popular dishes in the UK, with each family putting their own twist on it.

Etiquette expert William Hanson has offered his insights on the topic, guiding fans on the proper way to present and make this beloved meal, reports the Cambridgeshire Live.

Enthusiasts of the dish have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the so-called correct method and they are not holding back.

To ensure Brits avoid any mistakes with their Heinz Beanz, foodie William Hanson has some tips for fans on how to properly enjoy the nation’s favourite dish.

In a TikTok video, William stated: “The only way to eat your beans is in a quintessentially British manner.

“Consulting Heinz, the expert voice on baked beans, on proper etiquette will ensure British households can eat this simple yet heritage dish in the way it was supposed to be enjoyed. Your dinner guests will thank me.”

Another who knows the secret recipe to Heinz Beanz backed William up, with Paul, a ‘Beanz Expert’ at Heinz expressing: “Beans on toast are a cornerstone of British cuisine but people still get it wrong or are unsure how to make it.

  1. Place two slices of white farmhouse loaf bread in toaster.
  2. Store can upside down, and shake for 5 seconds before use to ensure even beans to sauce distribution.
  3. Warm beans on the hob for 3 – 4 mins stirring constantly. Do not boil the Beanz.
  4. Spread your butter evenly on the toast up to the crust.
  5. Place toast on plate. Pour on beans.
  6. Optional – Grate cheese on hot beans and let it melt for two minutes.

Extra Tips from Heinz Beanz:

  • Store your Heinz Beanz at an ambient temp preferably – 18°C.
  • Add your Heinz Beanz to a cold stainless-steel pan, stainless- steel helps to preserve the iconic taste you know and love.·
  • Never boil your Heinz Beanz. This can cause the sauce to split, potentially ruining the colour and flavour.·
  • Heat your Heinz Beanz to 64°C for instant eating temp. 75°C if you need time to finalise your toast.
