The death of a four-month-old baby in a village is being treated as ‘unexplained.’

The tot was discovered in Clynderwen, Pembrokeshire, Wales on Friday after the emergency services were alerted.

Officers attended after a call from the Wales Ambulance Service Trust concerning the welfare of a baby at about 1.45pm.

The infant died at the scene.

Now two people have been arrested following the tragedy.

A 19-year-old woman and a 23.-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries, Dyfed-Powys police said.

The force said: ‘The baby’s death is being treated as unexplained.’

It said people living in the Clynderweven area will see ‘an increased police presence over the coming days.’

Residents have brought flowers and toys as a tribute to the little boy, with one resident saying ‘everyone is in shock.’

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Pembrokeshire Herald: ‘It’s heartbreaking. Everyone here is in shock, and our thoughts are with the child’s family. We hope that the police can get to the bottom of what happened.’
