A savvy cook has shared a nifty trick to maximise the potential of leftover rice, using just one pan for the whole meal.

If you’re often left with too much rice after supper, binning it is no longer your only option; instead, think about transforming it into a tasty fried meal that will “revive” its taste.

A TikTok user under the handle @recipes demonstrated how surprisingly simple it is to transform basic leftovers into something spectacular. The initial steps involve chopping chilled rice into twelve even squares and scrambling eggs in a frying pan.

When the eggs are ready, set them aside before moving on to the next step. Sweetcorn, carrots, peas and onions then go into the pan, giving the meal a nutritious boost. After sautéing the veggies, push them to one side while melting butter on the other. This will be absorbed by the rice when it is added to the pan, which will boost its flavour.

Pressing the rice down improves its ability to soak up the now-melted butter, to which soy sauce, oyster sauce, and toasted sesame oil are added. As a final step, re-add the scrambled eggs with the mixture to create a dish reminiscent of egg fried rice.

The dish can then be served up into small bowls. The fried rice mealis described as a “delicious” method to rejuvenate leftover rice. The caption of the video stated: “Don’t let that rice go to waste! Here’s a delicious way to revive it!”
