PERRYTON, Texas (KFDA/Gray News) – An assistant fire chief in Texas has died from his injuries while responding to a structure fire Thursday, according to the fire officials.

Scott Glass was the assistant fire chief for Perryton Fire Department.

Glass and two other firefighters were injured while setting up equipment, fire hoses and traffic control after a 5-inch soft fire hose being filled with water whipped them.

The department updated its Facebook page with the news that Glass had passed away.

Perryton Fire EMS asked people to respect the privacy of Glass’ family as they grieve the loss.

The department said they will post details for Glass’ service when they are made available.
