Getting your festive food shop delivered to the front door is a great way to take some pressure off what can be a stressful time.

However, for that very reason, it’s become extremely popular and with most supermarkets you need to book early.

Waitrose has already released its Christmas delivery slots and appears to be almost fully booked for the 23rd and 24th.

Below, we take a look at the exact dates customers can book their festive food delivery from three major supermarkets, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s offered its loyal ‘Delivery Pass’ customers first dibs on Christmas home delivery and click-and-collect slots last week, on October 16.

It will open bookings for non-pass holders this Wednesday (October 23).

All customers can schedule deliveries for between December 18 – 24 and shoppers can amend their baskets until 11pm the day before their order is due to arrive.

Tesco’s ‘Delivery Pass’ customers can book their slots from 6am on Tuesday, November 5.

Everyone else can book from 6am the following Tuesday, on November 12.

Tesco says it has introduced ‘thousands’ of extra home delivery slots in the two weeks leading up to Christmas this year, with 60 more vans added to its delivery fleet.

Not all Tesco stores offer a delivery on December 24.

As with the other supermarkets, Asda is also giving priority to its ‘Delivery Pass’ customers, who have been able to book festive slots from October 15.

Non-pass holders can book their slot from tomorrow, October 22.

The supermarket has said it is offering more than 1 million home delivery and click-and-collect slots in the week before Christmas.

The minimum online spend for festive home deliveries is £40 and for click-and-collect, £25.

Changes to your basket can be made up to 11pm the day before your delivery or collection is due.

When do other supermarket festive delivery slots open?

Morrisons has already started taking booking for all customers.

Ocado opened up its slots in September, as did M&S.

On its website, M&S says slots are filling up fast.

Iceland are playing it cool and not releasing its slots till mid-December.
