Warning – this article contains major potential spoilers for Outlander season 7, part 2.

Outlander fans have just a month to wait before season seven continues and a recently released trailer has just unearthed some massive clues for what’s coming next.

Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) will finally be back in Scotland, but Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) face a dilemma of their own.

After their son Jemmy is kidnapped by Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton), Roger is forced to embark on another time-travelling quest to return him to the 20th Century.

Viewers discussing the new trailer on Reddit are now convinced a key character from his story has already been revealed after spotting someone wearing a striking bomber jacket from WWII.

There are spoilers galore for both Diana Gabaldon’s original novels and the upcoming season in these theories, so look away if you want to go in blind.

“Who is that guy on the right???” one fan asked, to which another replied: “Roger’s dad.”

After the original viewer asked for an explanation, the other explained: “Roger and Buck [time travel] to 1739.

“They both think about ‘Jeremiah’ and stones take them to that year because it is [the] year when Roger’s dad [time travelled] to. So they meet him.”

Many more fans are convinced another sequence will take place near Hadrian’s Wall, the location for a pivotal moment in Gabaldon’s novels between Roger and his father.

“Just googled and I think so. It seems like the right area too,” one viewer mused.

Another replied: “We know what that means”, later pointing out the character “clearly [wearing] a WW2 era pilot’s jacket. This is going to be awesome.”

And one more ecstatic fan replied: “I cannot wait for this. I swear it’s my favorite part in all the books and I’ve never been so excited to see something on screen.”

Not only is it pretty clear that Roger’s dad will be appearing this season, but fans may have also tracked down who’ll be playing him.

Both Rankin and William ‘Buck’ MacKenzie star Diarmaid Murtagh are currently following All Creatures Great and Small actor Nicholas Ralph on Instagram, who viewers agree is a perfect fit to portray Roger’s father.

As one eagle-eyed fan put it: “On December 8th, Richard and Diarmaid followed actor Nicholas Ralph on Instagram and he followed them back. Diarmaid posted a photo of his trailer (with Buck’s name on it) that morning, indicating he was filming.

“There is no confirmation on his agency’s website, however, but there is some resemblance between him and younger Richard so I think he might be playing Jerry MacKenzie.

“There are also some supporting artists who filmed “1940s” scenes on January 13th, which might be something to do with Jerry’s story in A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows, as there are no 1940s flashbacks in either Echo or MOBY. Take this with a big grain of salt, though.”

Will Outlander season seven feature the family reunion Roger has been waiting decades for? Tune in next month to find out.

Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
