Regardless of how often you clean your bathroom, the shower glass inevitably seems to get dirty again much too quickly.

From shower splatters to the remnants of shampoos and body scrubs, these marks are stubborn to clear away. And the longer you let these substances sit, the tougher it is to bring back that initial lustre of your shower glass.

But don’t fret, enthusiasts of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have shared a brilliant tip. A query was raised on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group by a member struggling to keep their shower screen gleaming, prompting a flood of advice from the community, reports the Express.

The individual asked the group: “I have a really large glass shower screen, does anyone know the best things to clean it with to be streak free, and cleaning cloth recommendations for glass etc.”

Responses in the comments section were plentiful, with one recommendation rising above the rest as the favourite. What’s more enticing is that this favoured solution uses just one product costing a mere 80p making it both wallet-friendly and simple.

The consensus among group participants is to have a squeegee or rubber blade within arm’s reach for post-bath or shower use, ensuring a swift and effective wipe-down each time.

One person advised: “Keep at squeegee hanging from screen and make everyone wipe down when finished once a week I also use descaler spray and scrub it.”

Another added their thoughts, suggesting: “Use a karcher or rubber blade every time you shower. Or wipe down with a towel. If it’s marked use viakal and a nylon scourer. Don’t leave on for more than 5 mins.”

A third said: “Clean it with viakel or similar, after every use use a window squeegee to wipe down. I only viakel mine now once or twice a year as using the squeegee every use keeps it all at bay.”

Further advice came from another, who said: “I’ve now solved it with using the squeegee, using the microfibre cloth to ‘dry’ the squeegee after every pass down the shower glass, and then at the end I go around all the edges and the door handle with the Minky cloth. Honestly, the shower looks like it’s never been used.”

If you’re in need of a squeegee, Dunelm offers them for the modest price of 80p, while IKEA has theirs priced at £1.

White vinegar was also a notable suggestion among the community members, noted for its cleaning prowess. One individual recommended: “Make mix washing up liquid, white vinegar and rinse aid, sparkling screens every time.”

And another tipster mentioned: “I use white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda mixed together and clean mine using a non stick scourer pad. Rinse off and buff dry with an e-cloth glass cleaning cloth.”
