Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke has said in a recent interview that he ‘really doesn’t give a f*** if fans want the 90s band to reunite.
Yorke has been focused on his solo endeavours recently and is due to begin his solo tour on Wednesday (October 23) in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Even so, many Radiohead fans have been speculating about the band touring again soon, something Yorke told Double J he didn’t know about.
He said: ‘I am not aware of it and don’t really give a flying f***.’
The Fake Plastic Trees singer continued to say that he thinks he and Radiohead have earned the right to pursue individual projects.
He said: ‘No offence to anyone and err, thanks for caring. But I think we’ve earned the right to do what makes sense to us without having to explain ourselves or be answerable to anyone else’s historical idea of what we should be doing.’
The interview comes amid renewed rumours that Radiohead will once again tour soon.
Bassist Colin Greenwood said last month that they’ve been rehearsing again recently, telling Hay Festival Querétaro: ‘We did some rehearsals about two months ago in London, just to play the old songs. And it was really fun, had a really good time.’
This comes after news earlier this summer that Radiohead keyboardist Jonny Greenwood is in ‘intensive care.’
He was touring as part of The Smile with fellow Radiohead singer Thom Yorke, plus Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner.
He was then forced to cancel the supergroup’s European leg on Friday (July 11).
A statement from The Smile said Greenwodd had been ‘seriously ill’ and would ‘soon return home’, but added doctors had advised he needed rest.
Greenwood had previously said that the band was all busy on separate projects.
He said: ‘Well, The Smile are on tour, Ed [O’Brien] is making another solo record, Colin [Greenwood] is playing bass with Nick Cave – they’ve just done five sold-out nights at the Sydney Opera House – so lots of music is being made,” he told The Guardian.
He went on to say that all members of the band were working, ‘just not as Radiohead.’
‘We’re still talking all the time, we just need to make a plan and get some time together sorted out in advance,’ he continued. ‘I’ve never been very good at that. Too busy dicking around in this studio.’
