All families hide secrets – and when relatives pass away, some of these may be brought to light.

This is something that a woman called Tay probably considered when she was clearing out her late father’s home. She stumbled across a note that was once written by her dad.

It contained an ominous warning – “do not read unless you want the answer”. The 27-year-old Texas lass thought this was strange for her dad as he was always a “straightforward” man who didn’t seem like the sort to keep secret letters hidden away.

So she took to TikTok to share what was inside, telling her viewers: “My father passed away unexpectedly, and as we were cleaning out his house, I found this ominous note shoved in the very back of his dresser.

“My dad was a simple, straightforward man. Hardworking and honest, so this is completely out of character for him.”

Tay then showed the note to the camera, with her hands shaking due to the “nerves”. When she opened it, she was left gobsmacked.

The suspicious note merely contained detailed instructions on how to win the peg game, a staple at Cracker Barrel restaurants since the 1960s.

Cracker Barrel is a US chain with a Southern country theme, and the peg game is something that is often seen on their dining tables. The aim of the game is to remove pegs from a triangle-shaped board so that only one remains, and it’s said to be a “great way to test IQ”.

The note left by Tay’s father included a recreation of the triangular board with numbers for each peg, as well as a step-by-step guide on which pegs to move in order to win the game.

In disbelief that her father had managed to get in one last dad joke from beyond the grave, Tay captioned the clip: “One last joke on me, I guess.”

The video went viral and attracted plenty of amusing comments. One person said: “I’ve worked at Cracker Barrel for six years and I couldn’t tell you how to beat the damn game.” And another added: “This is important information he has left behind.”
