Two Chinese exchange students are joining Moffat Academy through the Confucius Hub programme in partnership with the University of Strathclyde.

Miss Siyi Li and Miss Zhen Niu will be at the Dumfriesshire all-through school until June 2025, teaching students about Chinese culture
and Mandarin language.

A spokesperson for the secondary school said they are being given a warm welcome: “Their presence provides an exciting opportunity for Moffat Academy students to explore new cultural perspectives while gaining valuable language skills.

“Through interactive lessons and activities, Miss Li and Miss Niu will offer insights into the rich traditions of China, promoting a deeper understanding of global diversity.

They added: “This programme aligns with the values of the United Nations Convention on the Rights
of the Child (UNCRC), particularly Article 29, which emphasises the right of every child to an education that fosters respect for different cultures.

“By integrating Mandarin and Chinese cultural education, Moffat Academy continues to give a broad and balanced learning experience that supports intercultural awareness and global citizenship.”
