Amanda Holden revealed her husband told her “you’ve got to stop” after she confessed to something rather controversial.
The 53-year-old mum-of-two told Heart Radio she has already completed her Christmas shopping, expecting her final present to drop through the door on Wednesday. And while Amanda appeared delighted by the news on her breakfast show, it seems husband Chris Hughes was less enthusiastic.
She explained the couple’s family home contains “so many packages” as she continues her festive shopping. Amanda’s confession came as caller Ashley revealed she was “so excited” when she spotted her first Christmas tree of winter 2024 while stuck in traffic on Old Kent Road in London.
To which Amanda replied: “Everything’s going up in my house on November 15. I might go even earlier.
“And I’ve finished my Christmas shopping. That’s what I told my husband because there’s so many packages in my house, he’s like ‘gosh Mandy, you’ve got to stop, you’re haemorrhaging’.
“And I went ‘I’ve finished my Christmas shopping’ and I looked him in the eye when I said it. I’ve done, I’ve basically nearly finished it.”
Amanda and music producer Chris have been together since 2004, having met in Los Angeles a year earlier. They tied the knot in 2008 and now share their luxury Surrey mansion with their two daughters and family pets.
The star’s decision to sort her Christmas shopping in October may prove divisive among Brits, with a 2022 YouGov poll finding only 17 percent had started their Christmas shopping by December 5.
Most shoppers however had all their presents bought by December 19 with only four per cent confessing they leave their shopping until the week before Christmas Day.
The pollsters found that men are more likely to leave their shopping late, with only 39 per cent saying they were sorted on December 19.
In contrast, 48 per cent of women had their purchases sorted with six days to spare. While many shoppers will wait for December, buying presents early can help spread the cost of purchases and avoid the Christmas rush.
