A well-known pundit from within the Scottish game has made the shock revelation that some Rangers players ‘believe’ they will outlast Philippe Clement.

The Belgian boss has come under increased pressure from the Ibrox faithful after a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. It wasn’t just the nature of dropping points but the performance in Ayrshire that has riled supporters. It was a big chance for the Light Blues to cut the gap on Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership to just three points after they played out a 2-2 draw at Parkhead – but instead they now find themselves trailing the top two by six.

Rangers will need to deliver a big performance under the lights at Ibrox this evening in the Europa League after a matchday two hammering by Lyon. It’s then St Mirren at home on Sunday before a massive trip to Aberdeen to face Jimmy Thelin’s high-flyers next midweek. There is a possibility the Light Blues could find themselves trailing the Dons by NINE points by the close of play on Wednesday night – a situation that will not be accepted by the Rangers support.

Marvin Bartley

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, former Hibs and Livingston midfielder Marvin Bartley said: “I think there is a big couple of weeks. Obviously he was given the new contract and I will be honest I was in agreement with it. From what I was hearing coming out of the dressing room there was one or two players who had the mentality of that I will outlast the manager.

“I’ve been in dressing rooms before and it is very difficult for a manager to turn around if players think that is a possibility. But they need to do more. Regardless of anything or what is going on behind the scenes.

“I think somebody was saying Rangers have spent north of £15million on transfers this season. They should not be losing to Kilmarnock. That is not me being disrespectful that should not happen.”
