Two lads turned a can of Heinz baked beans into ice cream, and it went exactly as one might expect.

Showcasing their adventure on TikTok, Josh Kerr and his mate demonstrated the capabilities of the Ninja CREAMi dessert maker – a trendy appliance that can whip up customised frozen treats.

The product description states: “Simply fill a tub with ingredients, pop in the freezer for 24 hours, then process to perfection in minutes when you’re ready to serve! Creamify Technology transforms your frozen base into a creamy treat. Indulgent, low sugar, dairy free or vegan – the choice is yours!”

Eager to see if it can really “turn anything into ice cream”, Josh declared in his video that he would “put that to the test” – opting for Heinz baked beans as his ingredient of choice. Following the instructions, the duo seasoned a can of baked beans with salt and pepper before freezing it for the required 24 hours.

Once frozen, they fired up the Ninja CREAMi to craft what they dubbed “baked bean sorbet”. Initially they were taken aback, with Josh’s friend remarking: “It’s actually like ice cream texture.”

But their enthusiasm quickly soured as they detected an off-putting odour, and things only got worse during the taste test. The flavour was so repulsive that Josh had to rush off camera to spit it out, later saying: “That is disgusting.”

The lads weren’t too impressed with the “baked bean sorbet”, dishing out a measly 2.5/10 rating, and urged their audience to pitch in with ideas for more things they can try and convert into frozen dessert.

And the comments section was full of people offering some less-than-lovely ideas for their next experiment. One person said: “Sausages and mash.” Another suggested: “Cheesy chips and gravy.” While a third commenter wanted them to put mushy peas to the test.
