Police are hunting a driver after a crash outside an East Kilbride primary school.

Officers were alerted to an incident on Crawford Drive near Hunter Primary during morning rush hour after reports of a one-car crash.

Pictures obtained by Lanarkshire Live show a smashed car flipped on its side after reportedly hitting a barrier near to a school crossing with its airbags deployed.

Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of the crash.

It is understood the driver of the car fled the scene with police confirming enquiries are ongoing to trace them.

The road was closed for some time while the wreckage was removed from the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.45am on Thursday, October 24 we were called to a report of a one car crash in Crawford Drive, East Kilbride.

“Officers attended and there were no injuries reported. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the car.”
