Stirling Uni swimmer Duncan Scott was back in the pool competitively for the first time since his Olympic success over the weekend – and continued his medal glory.
The eight-time Olympic medallist, fresh off more success in Paris, was taking part in the first leg of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Shanghai alongside fellow Olympian James Guy and ex-Stirling training partner Mark Szaranek.
Scott opened his account by winning the 400 metres freestyle crown, leading from the front in his first medals swim since the drama of the French capital.
He followed that up with more gold in the 200 metres freestyle final, finishing the race ahead of Australia’s Edward Sommerville and Lithuania’s Danas Rapsys.
The swimming star finished off by claiming two more medals on the weekend with a silver in the 200 metres individual medley and bronze in the 400 metre event, trailing French phenom Leon Marchand in both events.
“I’m really happy with that. It’s a really tough three days, we’re right at the end and it’s a good quality field, so I’m glad to be able to win and also hopefully learn ahead of South Korea and Singapore as well,” Scott said.
The results in the Chinese city mean Scott currently sits in fourth in the overall World Cup standings, with all three Brits now making their way to the Korean city of Incheon this weekend for the second event of the World Cup.
