Plans have been unveiled to make alterations and to extend the greenkeeper’s facility at the luxury golf and hotel resort in Ayrshire, owned by US Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

A planning application has been submitted to South Ayrshire Council, seeking permission for the works to be carried out at Trump Turnberry.

The greenkeeper’s facility supports the two courses at the famous golf resort, namely the King Robert the Bruce course and the Ailsa course, the latter being famous for hosting The Open back in 2009.

The plans show a new galvanised steel canopy built onto the side of the existing facility which could host a number of plant and other associated machinery used for the upkeep of the two courses.

Agents in the proposals are McGinlay Associates, of Kilmarnock, and the applicants are SLC Turnberry Ltd.

Also included in the proposals are a new storage area and office “elevation alterations.”

The plans are listed as ‘pending consideration’ on South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal and a decision on them is expected to be made in December.

This planning application at Trump Turnberry is the latest in a series of proposals designed to improve the offering at the Ayrshire resort.

Earlier in the year plans were submitted seeking permission to demolish a building, known as ‘The Den,’ on Little Turnberry Farm, because it had “outlived its useful life.”

And in March bosses were given the go-ahead for a “remodelling” at the seventh hole and eighth tee on the King Robert the Bruce course.

An application to build a new wall and metal gate are also in the pipeline as part of a plan to enhance the offering at the resort’s luxury lodges, just off Maidens Road.

And earlier this month, Trump Turnberry lodged plans to introduce an outdoor pursuits rest area at the resort.

They submitted a planning application to the local authority, seeking permission for a change of use to an agricultural building, a former coach house, in order to create the new feature.

Those proposals will be determined next month.
