A royal expert has stated that Meghan Markle is “left inconsolable” following scathing remarks from ex-Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown.

Earlier in the week, Tina shared her thoughts on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on The Ankler podcast, where she criticised their approach and labelled Meghan’s media strategy as “total crap” suggesting Prince Harry was naively following her “blindly…like a child”.

Royal commentator Neil Sean reported that Meghan is “inconsolable with tears and at the same time outraged” by Tina’s comments.

Neil said: “According to a source Meghan was bereft because she’d admired Tina Brown and in particular read her books simply because of her connection to Princess Diana and get this because she wanted to find a better connection so she could understand her husband Prince Harry and how he felt about his mother.”

On the podcast, Tina elaborated on her views of Harry and Meghan, stating: “The trouble with Meghan is that she has the worst judgement of anyone in the entire world.

“She’s flawless about getting it all wrong. She really is. Her issue is that she doesn’t listen. She has all these people, asks them their opinion, and then doesn’t follow it. She does what she wants to do. And all of her ideas are total crap, unfortunately.”

Tina has delivered a scathing assessment of Prince Harry, stating that he excels at “being Prince Harry” and while he may be the “most talented” royal in terms of princely duties, that’s all he knows how to do. This isn’t Tina’s first critique of Harry and Meghan, having previously labelled their departure from the Royal Family as a “disaster”, reports the Express.

Her remarks come as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attempt to regroup in 2024 following a turbulent 2023. Recently, it was revealed that the couple are purchasing a property in Portugal, bringing them slightly closer to the UK.

While this is not intended to be a new base, it signifies a shift in the couple’s geographical location. As for why they chose to buy a property in Portugal, one professor and author suggests it could be due to Prince Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, also residing in the area.

The cousins are reportedly close. Speaking to the Express, Professor Pauline MacLaran speculated: “I would think this will have greatly influenced their purchase and will provide them with a familiar friendship circle for their stays there, as well as a chance for their children to get to know their second cousins.”

She added that while it may not alter their relationship with senior members of the Royal Family, it would make it easier for Harry to travel to the UK, especially as he has been making an increasing number of return visits home.

Professor MacLaran has commented on the Sussexes’ new property acquisition, saying: “I don’t think this new home purchase will make any immediate difference to relations with the royals.”

He added: “However, if the Sussexes intend to use Portugal as a base from which Harry can visit the UK while they are there, then perhaps he will have more of a chance to repair the relationship with his father if he can visit for short periods more easily.”

He also noted: “This will provide them with a more neutral base than buying in the UK where they face so much scrutiny. Yet the UK and the rest of Europe will be readily accessible. This way they can guard their much-loved privacy better.”

Representatives for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been contacted for a statement.
