The culinary talents of Gartmore’s villagers have been collected for a special cookbook raising money for a good cause.

The Gartmore Cookbook was officially launched at an event in the Black Bull pub in the village on Monday evening after months of work by the organisers, collating family favourite recipes and stories for the collection.

A royal touch is featured in the pages, with a letter from Buckingham Palace contained within, alongside a devilled pheasant recipe from Princess Anne.

It has also been added to with illustrations contributed by pupils from Gartmore Primary and renowned Scottish artist Craig Campbell has made his own touch with doodles for each of the chapter headings.

Writer and broadcaster Melanie Reid has penned the introduction for the book, with the contents pulled together by a trio of locals – Isobel Madden, Fiona Newton and Netta Pitts.

Proceeds from the sales of the cookbook will be contributed to Strathcarron Hospice, as well as funding batteries for Gartmore’s valued defibrillator, with the price set at £10.

The organisers said: “It has been great fun to organise, because people have been so generous with their recipes – even the Princess Royal contributed!”

The cookbook is available from the Black Bull, Benview Garden Centre, Aberfoyle Post Office, Krazy Kuts in Drymen and Kaleidoscope in Kippen.
