A one-off episode of Celebrity Gogglebox will grace our screens tomorrow, showcasing ten celebrities who have never before participated.

England’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is set to join forces with renowned boxer Tony Bellew, as the two feature on the Stand Up To Cancer charity special of the beloved programme. The duo, who are close friends, share a connection with Everton—Jordan, 30, and Tony, 41, known for his undying support as a fan.

They’ll be seen tomorrow on Channel 4, contributing to the cause alongside other newcomers, including comedians Frank Skinner and David Baddiel, actors Kirstin Scott Thomas and Saskia Reeves, along with Miriam Margolyes, Lesley Thomas, Stephen Merchant and Josh Widdicombe.

Jordan, typically found barking orders at his teammates on the football field, expressed his excitement to the Mirror: “I’m buzzing to join my mate Tony on our Gogglebox sofa for Stand Up to Cancer. It’s not often you get to watch and chat about TV, while also making a difference – we wanted to do our bit to support this campaign which speeds up lifesaving cancer research.”

Meanwhile, Tony jested: “Jordan better not be thinking of starting any fights over the remote – I think we both know who would win that one! It’s going to be an amazing evening – what a great chance to kick back with one of my mates and enjoy some of the weeks’ best TV, all whilst helping raise money for a good cause.”

Skinner, 67, reminisced about spending the last three decades watching TV with his long-time pal David Baddiel, who’s 60. “We used to laugh uncontrollably at infomercials and then Dave would actually buy the product,” he recalled, reports the Mirror.

Skinner also mentioned: “The only TV I refused to watch with him was stuff featuring me. He never laughed enough. Stand up to Cancer is an amazing cause and Dave and me, back on a sofa, seems a much better deal than cycling up K2, carrying a fridge to Istanbul or any of that other sweaty stuff that people do for charity.”

Baddiel expressed that joining the cause “wasn’t a difficult yes” and emphasised: “If we can raise awareness and cash to fight this terrible disease, then it’s worth the enormous effort of slumping in front of the screen with my old friend and saying some stuff.”

Merchant, 49, known for his recent work on BBC comedy The Outlaws, which he also penned, confessed he might find the Gogglebox experience challenging. “I don’t usually allow talking when the TV is on, because I know how much hard work goes into making shows, so I try to give them my full attention.”

Meanwhile, Miriam, 83, couldn’t be more thrilled at the prospect of watching TV and raising funds for cancer research with her dear friend of nearly 40 years, Lesley, 79.

Catch them all on Celebrity Gogglebox for Stand up to Cancer, Friday 25th October, 9pm, on C4.
