In recent months, there’s been a manner of rare coins circulating the internet.

Whether you own a huge stash of hidden gems, or you’ve only just started looking out for these coins, you can really hit a jackpot with specific kinds in your wallet. It’s happened a lot in the past with auctions and eBay being a great place to sell these gems.

Now thanks to TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard, who has 207,000 followers, people are scrambling online for four specific coins. In a recent post online where he warned collectors to never clean their coins, he detailed the 1949 Brass Three Pence.

He said: “This has a mintage of 464,000 which can fetch between £9 and £700, depending on the condition.” Next up, he discussed the 1905 Half Crown which has a mintage of 166,008. “You could easily grab anywhere between £450 and £10,000,” he admitted.

“The 1854 Four Pence Grout has just 11,880 ever minted. This has a value of £230 to £2,000. Next we have the 1851 One Shilling, with only 470,071 made, this can sell between £100 and £2,000.”

After detailing the coins, he told collectors to keep an eye out. The post garnered hundreds of likes and numerous comments since it was posted. One said: “Do not upset the wizard.” While another added: “I have many coins from the UK.”

Looking for more rare coins? Previously, the “rarest” 50p coin is currently “skyrocketing” in value after surpassing the Kew Gardens piece. The same user recently shed light on the Atlantic Salmon 50p which is now the scarcest in active circulation.

He said: “With only 200,000 of these, this is an exciting day for coin collecting. It takes the crown from the all-mighty Kew Gardens 50p coin which held the title for the past 15 years.

“Launched at the tail end of 2023, the Atlantic Salmon 50p was released as part of the national celebrations for King Charles III’s Coronation year.

“This coin has now officially dethroned the Kew Gardens 50p, which had a mintage of 210,000 when it first came out in 2009.”
