Jock Armstrong scored a podium finish on the A M Phillip Snowman Rally on Saturday.

The Castle Douglas driver, along with navigator Owen Paterson, took an overall fifth place in their Skoda Fabia.

And that was enough for third place among the Asset Alliance Group Motorsport UK Scottish Rally Championship runners.

They finished one place ahead of Dumfries’ Mark McCulloch in his Proton Satria Evo in the final standings.

Castle Douglas’ Scott Peacock finished 11th in his Mitsubishi Evo 8. Stranraer’s Martyn Erskine and Dumfries’ Charles Blair came home 21st. There was class success for Bridge of Dee’s Donald Peacock and Dumfries’ Mairi Riddick, who won H2 in their Ford Escort Mk2.

Also winning his class was Dumfries’ Niall Cowan Jnr, who took M1 in his MG ZR.

Penpont’s Greg McKnight and Dumfries’ Harry Marchbank had to retire with gearbox problems on their Ford Escort Mk2.

Dumfries’ Robert Proudlock also failed to finish in his Peugeot 208 Rally4. He’ll be hoping for better luck this weekend as he aims to be crowned Junior British Rally Champion on the Visit Conway Cambrian Rally.
