A second man has been arrested over the death of John Taylor in Kilwinning. The 44-year-old was found with serious injuries outside his home on the North Ayrshire town’s Pollock Crescent at around 1.55pm on Friday, October 18.

Emergency crews raced to the incident but Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives earlier confirmed that Mr Taylor’s death is being treated as murder.

Kiey O’Connor, 26, was previously arrested in connection and he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with alleged murder. O’Connor, of North Ayrshire, was also charged with an attempt to defeat the ends of justice.

He made no plea or declaration. O’Connor was remanded in custody while the case was committed for further examination. He is expected to reappear in the dock within the next six days.

The force confirmed today that a second man, aged 53, had been arrested in connection this morning.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: “A second man has been arrested in connection with the death of John Taylor in Kilwinning. Mr Taylor, aged 44, was found with serious injuries on Pollock Crescent around 1.55pm on Friday, October 18. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 53-year-old man was arrested on Friday, October 25. A 26-year-old man was previously arrested and charged in connection with the death. Enquiries are ongoing.”
