Locals are being offered the chance to find out more about Stirling’s so-called “supervillage”.

Housebuilders Springfield Properties, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are inviting the local community to attend an event about the upcoming Durieshill development which will see the creation of a brand new 3,000 home village on the outskirts of Stirling.

The first of three public events is being held on Wednesday, October 30, between 2.30pm and 7pm at King Robert Hotel, Glasgow Road, Stirling, FK7 0LJ, with two events planned in November in Plean.

Attendees will learn about the location of the site, the detailed masterplan and proposed updates to sections of the existing planning consent to include homes by Barratt and David Wilson and alterations to the Springfield areas. This follows the recent sale of land from Springfield to Barratt and David Wilson to accelerate the creation of the long awaited development and delivery of much needed high-quality private and affordable housing.

As one of the largest detailed planning applications to have been approved in Scottish history, the 600-acre site is set to include extensive green spaces, schools, shops, and commercial opportunities. With infrastructure works commencing in 2025, the development is also expected to create over 200 jobs and apprenticeship opportunities for the local community.

Springfield Managing Director, Andy Curran, said: “These events are a chance to share the exciting vision for Durieshill’s future. This long awaited development is about more than just building homes, it’s about creating a sustainable and vibrant community with strong infrastructure, excellent amenities and beautiful green spaces.

“Furthermore, it will generate hundreds of jobs and apprenticeship opportunities, supporting the broader region’s growth.

“We’ve worked closely with Stirling Council to design a village that has everything a community needs to thrive, and we’re delighted to have welcomed Barratt and David Wilson Homes to the team and are confident their proposals will positively add to our approved plans.”

David Scott, MD Barratt Developments West Scotland, added: “We’re pleased to include our range of high quality homes within the approved Durieshill proposals. There is an urgent demand for housing in this region and the feedback we receive from the community will help us shape areas within this exciting new place where people will want to live, work, and raise their families for years to come.”

The following two public consultation events in Plean will be held on November 13 at: 1pm and 3pm. McAuley Hall, Balfour Centre, Plean FK7 8DS; and 6pm and 8pm, dining hall, East Plean Primary School, Plean FK7 8BX.

More information about the upcoming village can be found on a newly launched Durieshill website, which will be updated as the development progresses: https://www.durieshill.co.uk/
