Vaclav Cerny has been told how win a permanent transfer to Rangers next summer.

The on loan winger stepped up to the plate in the Europa League on Thursday night as he bagged two goals in the 4-0 battering of Steaua Bucharest at Ibrox. His first goal was sublime as he curled home before he added to his tally in the second period. It takes his tally to five goals and three assists in all competitions as he looks to kick on. The Czech Republic international joined on a season-long loan from VfL Wolfsburg with displays like this one likely to help his chances of a permanent stay.

Ayr United forward Jamie Murphy – formally of Rangers – reckons if he keeps getting better and better and shows a run of consistency over the next four or five months, then the fans will want to see him remain beyond his initial agreement. Speaking on Go Radio, he said: “I think if he keeps getting better and better as he has.

“He had his first game against Motherwell and did well then had a bad patch and didn’t play well for a few weeks. But I think he is one where if over the next three, four, five months if he keeps doing it, that is one the Rangers fans will want to see stay.”

Meanwhile, Hamza Igamane grabbed his first goal for the Light Blues under the lights at Ibrox and Murphy believes he showed enough to earn a run out from the start against St Mirren. He reckons he is just one of a handful of players that gets fans excited when he runs at an opponent with Cerny and Nedim Bajrami also namechecked.

He added: “I think he probably starts this weekend ahead of [Cyriel] Dessers. He just seems to have that, you know when fans get excited when he gets the ball or is running at a player? I think that is what Rangers are lacking a wee bit at the minute. Someone who can really go out and excite them.

“I think you can say Cerny is probably the only other one who really wants to take his man on and excite the fans. Bajrami on the other side is maybe more of a technical player. To have players in your team that can take people on and score goals, that is what fans want to see.”

Elsewhere, Nicolas Raskin took to social media to express his delight at his and Rangers display. He put in a real shift alongside Connor Barron in the Ibrox engine room. He is already looking forward to the next outing while he gave a shout out to his pal.

Writing on Instagram alongside a host of match photos, he wrote: “European nights at Ibrox, top game from the team! On to the next one. Ouiiiiii Hamzaa” He accompanied the post with a blue love heart. The Belgian will be hoping it is the kind of performance that can see him kickstart his season and get a run in Clement’s starting side going forward with his minutes mainly off the bench.
