David Gandy has hit out at British Airways after an overbooking issue led to his two-year-old daughter being seated next to a stranger during their flight. The 44-year-old model vented his frustration on his X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, detailing how his allocated seats vanished and how he was told by BA that it was acceptable for his toddler to sit alone.

Gandy, who was returning from a trip to Morocco, described the situation: “Me: so @British_Airways you have oversold the flight. Seats allocated to us have disappeared and you think its ok for my 2 year old to be sat on her own next to a stranger? What if theres an emergency?” He continued: “BA: well nothing we can do so yes its ok. COME on BA you can do better than this.”

In response to his complaint, British Airways asked him to share details via direct message, stating: “Hi, please send us your booking reference via DM along with as much information as possible so we can take a closer look. We’ll also need you to confirm your full name and contact details. We may need to ask you a few more questions for data protection.”

David Gandy, along with partner Stephanie Mendoros, who he has been with for four years, has two daughters—Tabitha, born in 2021, and Matilda, born in 2018. His followers showed solidarity with the distressed dad through comments sharing support and their own family travel woes, reports the Mirror.

The model had previously spoken about his struggles in his younger years, revealing that he found it tough to get a date due to his appearance. In an interview with Alan Carr on his Life’s a Beach podcast, he shared: ”They were not my good years. I think you have a different impression, I grew out and then up so I wasn’t in my best fighting fit form. ‘ Alan Carr jokingly responded with “You were minging,” to which David replied “Not far off”, leaving them both in stitches.

However, it’s clear that his looks are no longer an issue, as he was soon discovered by top modelling agency Select and went on to star in the iconic Dolce and Gabbana ad campaign, posing in just tight white underpants. His image was even featured on a massive 50-foot billboard in New York’s Time Square, although he was too busy working to see it in person.
