Liam Payne’s fans have been left heartbroken, believing his ‘haunting’ final Instagram post carries a deeper, sorrowful meaning. The One Direction star tragically passed away last week after falling from the third-floor suite of his hotel in Argentina at the age of 31.

Since his untimely death, fans globally have been paying their respects, and they’ve now observed a touching detail in his last photo. Just before his death, Liam posted an image of One Direction with American filmmaker Morgan Spurlock.

Honouring the late Supersize Me creator, who died in May due to cancer complications, Liam captioned it: “Rest in peace Morgan Spurlock, it was a pleasure working with you.”

Spurlock directed the band’s behind-the-scenes 3D documentary, One Direction: This Is Us, which chronicled the group over six months. Fans noted that in the photo, Liam and Morgan are standing together, separate from the other band members, reports the Mirror.

One fan commented: “The fact that his last post is with One Direction, but he’s separated from the other four by Morgan, that also left us this year…I know it’s just a coincidence, but it’s foreshadowing.”

Another concurred: “True, its kind of creepy. God, I wish this didn’t happen” while another remarked: “I noticed that too.”

A fourth reflected: “It’s like he knew.”

Fans around the globe are still grappling with the tragic loss of Liam, over a week after his untimely death. Argentine police are deep into investigating the incident, yet both authorities and fans are left pondering several pressing questions, such as why the pop star was alone without his bodyguard at the time of the tragedy.

Liam suffered a fatal 49ft fall from a balcony in Buenos Aires during a holiday with his partner Kate Cassidy. State emergency medical system chief Alberto Crescenti confirmed to Todo Noticias TV, Argentina, last week that the artist had tragically fallen into an internal courtyard of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, saying: “A few minutes later [an] emergency team arrived and confirmed the death of this man who we later learned was from a musical group. He had injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall. There was no way to do anything.”

Liam’s bereaved father Geoff, aged 66, journeyed to Argentina last Friday to organise the return of his beloved son’s remains, with the timeline for his repatriation to the UK for funeral services still uncertain. The family’s initial effort to repatriate their celebrity loved one has hit a postponement by Argentinian judicial officers pending additional toxicology analyses.

Although preliminary findings indicated various drugs were present, officials emphasized that these early results cannot precisely determine the levels in his system at the time of death.

The conclusive results are expected to take between 10 to 15 days from the time of death, but the process can be more prolonged. In addition, investigators are examining data from mobile phones, computers, and security cameras, which “require longer analysis time”.
