A pizza restaurant has apologised after they served customers food laced with THC.
Famous Yeti’s Pizza in Stoughton, Wisconsin, unintentionally served pizza contaminated with the drug between Tuesday and Thursday.
Medics have said they had taken multiple people to hospital with THC-related symptoms, all of whom reported eating at the restaurant.
Bosses said they had mistakenly prepared the food with Delta-9 contaminated oil accidentally taken from a shared storage space, The Hill reports.
It is one of the main cannabinoids responsible for marijuana’s psychoactive effects.
Famous Yeti’s said: ‘Yeti’s Community, it is with deep regret that we inform you of a potential contamination involving pizza sold between Tuesday, October 22nd, 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, October 24th, 12:00 p.m.
‘After receiving reports from staff, Yeti’s owner, and employees of unexplained physical reactions, we underwent an investigation with the Stoughton Police and the local health officials.
‘We want to assure you that all affected products have been destroyed.
‘Famous Yeti’s is working closely with local authorities to improve our storage and security protocols to prevent this from happening again and to guarantee the safety of our customers.’
Side effects of consuming Delta-9 includes anxiety, paranoia, dizziness and increased blood pressure.
The city’s public health department said: ‘If you ate the pizza and are experiencing THC-related symptoms, please contact your health care provider or call 911 if your symptoms worsen.
‘Keep in mind each person’s reaction may be different, and the concentration of THC in the pizza can vary by piece.’
