Week six of Strictly Come Dancing kicked off with Halloween Week, and viewers were in for more than just dance floor thrills. Eyebrows were raised during Saturday (October 26)’s BBC show when pro dancer Carlos Gu, clad in an outfit mirroring host Claudia Winkleman’s signature look, caused quite a stir.
The evening’s first performers, Chris McCausland and Diane Buswell, delivered a Samba to ‘Stayin Alive’ by The Bee Gees which met with mixed feedback from the judges. Upon retreating upstairs to discuss their performance with Claudia, attention shifted as Carlos made his surprise appearance.
Carlos donned a black wig, akin to Claudia’s iconic hairdo, matched with a black blazer and leopard print trousers, prompting a double-take among fans.
Audiences didn’t hesitate to express their bemusement online, with one viewer tweeting, “Who’s that other ‘Claudia’? #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly,” while another chimed in praising Carlos’ impersonation with, “Carlos dressed as Claudia is amazing! #Strictly”.
A cascade of laughter emojis followed a simple post: “Carlos”, and another fan quipped, “Oh it’s Carlos, I thought it was Karen! #Strictly #DoubleClaude”. Lastly, the image of two Claudias had another adding: “There’s two Claudia’s I had to take two #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”
There are currently 11 celebrity couples left all hoping to lift the all important Glitterball trophy. Bookmakers have made Dr Punam Krishan and her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez the favourites to be eliminated from the show this week, reports the Mirror.
They received enough votes from viewers to avoid the dreaded dance-off last Sunday after finishing second bottom in the judges’ leader board. Olympian Sam Quek and partner Nikita Kuzmin could join them in the dance-off after their odds of elimination were slashed from 33/1 to 7/2.
Last week, JLS star JB Gill and Amy Dowden were in the dance-off last week against Paul Merson and pro dancer Karen Hauer. For Halloween they will will dance a Foxtrot to Dancing In The Moonlight by Toploader while Chris McCausland and his partner Dianne Buswell favourites to win.
