PRINCETON, W.Va. -The Special Needs Collaborative in Mercer County hosted their second community event for individuals and their families.

The Stumpkins Pumkins Farm in Princeton was the venue for this afternoon’s Special Fall Festival event.

Activities included trunk-or-treat, hayrides, sensory activities, crafts, and more.

The truck-or-treat was set up by community resource agencies that tailored to special needs individuals.

Special Needs Collaborative Cofounder Alysha Crawford says these events are only one way that the group makes a positive impact on the special needs community.

“Our mission is to create a hub for special needs families,” said Crawford. “So, events are just one way that we’re doing that. So at these events we can bring people together, bring resources, but behind the scenes we’re trying to make Mercer County more accessible and inclusive for special needs families.”

The collaborative is also busy planning another event for November. Information about the event will be posted on the special need’s collaborative Facebook.
