A man was rushed to hospital after a horror road crash involving three cars. The 40-year-old is said to be in a life-threatening condition following the incident.

The collision took place on the A950, near the Aberdeenshire village of Mintlaw, on Saturday afternoon, when the man was driving a black Ford Escort.

Police Scotland said the crash happened around a mile outside Mintlaw, on the road to the village of Longside, just under 30 miles north of Aberdeen.

A red Ford Fiesta and a red Nissan Pixo were also involved in the smash, which took place just after 6.25pm on Saturday, October 26.

The Escort driver was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where medics treated him for serious injuries, while three others were also rushed to hospital.

Two female passengers from the Fiesta, and the female driver of the Pixo, were also taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The road was closed for around eight-and-a-half hours for Police Scotland road crash experts to investigate the incident, and for the damaged cars to be removed from the scene.

Sergeant Eoin Maxwell, of the North East Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have information or who saw any of the vehicles on the road before the incident to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area. Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2915 of 26 October.”
