Tom Holland has come forward with his first remarks following confirmation that he’s set to star in Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated movie post-Oppenheimer. The actor, known for his role as Spider-Man, joins Matt Damon in Nolan’s next cinematic venture.

Expressing his exhilaration on Good Morning America, Tom divulged: “When the opportunity came in, it was the phone call of a lifetime.”

He equated the moment to receiving news about landing the Spider-Man role a decade earlier, stating: “[It was] reminiscent of getting that call about Spider-Man 10 years ago. It’s an amazing thing for me. I’m super proud and I’m really, really excited.”

While buzzing with enthusiasm for the undisclosed film, Tom kept specific details under his hat.

He added: “All I can say is that I’m incredibly excited and obviously honoured, but that’s all I can say because to be honest that’s really all I know”, reports the Express.

The project remains shrouded in secrecy, but it has secured a release date: July 17, 2026. After Oppenheimer’s significant earnings at the box office last year, totaling $977 million against a $100 million budget, anticipation is high for Nolan’s latest work.

Adding to a packed schedule, Spider-Man 4 is slated for release one week following Tom’s Nolan collaboration, on July 24, 2026.

With such large-scale productions, however, release timings are always tentative and could shift from the initial dates announced.

Tom is set to don the Spider-Man suit once again as Peter Parker, with Zendaya returning as his on-screen partner MJ and off-screen sweetheart.

While chatting on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom accidentally disclosed when they’ll kick off filming, saying: “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go – we’re nearly there. Super exciting. I can’t wait!”

Since debuting as Spider-Man in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom has reprised his role in sequels Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019 and Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, not to mention his stints in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Jon Watts directed all three standalone films. However, this upcoming instalment will see a change in the director’s chair with Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton stepping up to take the reins.

Christopher Nolan’s yet-untitled film releases on July 17 2026, while Spider Man 4 comes out on July 24.
