A home cook has caused a stir on social media by revealing her unconventional ‘secret’ ingredient in curry. Jill Stewart, who goes by the online alias @jillbakes_ from County Antrim, Northern Ireland, took to Instagram sharing her tip for an enhanced curry.

She divulged that she puts a particular chocolate bar into her dish. Rejecting the typical choices of dark or milk chocolate, she declared her go-to addition was none other than a Bounty bar. In her post, Jill stated: “It’s been controversial, but adding chocolate to your curry is a game-changer. Would you try it? ”

The ingredient certainly set tongues wagging amongst her viewers, reports the Mirror. While some accepted that a touch of chocolate could work in a curry, the consensus was that a Bounty bar was taking things too far. One viewer expressed their shock by commenting: “I MEAN ADD LIKE SOME DARK CHOCOLATE BUT NOT A BOUNTY BAR.”

Another follower, @sunilsingh. x, commented: “Calling that curry is a crime.” Echoing this sentiment, an additional comment read: “What a horrendous day to have eyes.”

Popular Indian eatery Dishoom was tagged in the comments, with the restaurant responding with a string of shocked and confused emojis.

However, not everyone objected; some were intrigued by her idea. @richenzo_99 applauded, saying: “That’s mole vibes I love it.” Similarly, @laurelanisa remarked: “Why does everyone hate on bounties they’re so good.”

Mole, a traditional Mexican sauce, is made up of fruits, nuts, chilli peppers, and spices such as black pepper, cinnamon, or cumin. Interestingly, chocolate, which isn’t typically found in Indian cuisine or any other Subcontinental Asian dishes, is a key ingredient.
