AKRON, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – One teen is dead and two others are injured after a shooting at a Halloween party in Ohio Saturday night.

According to a release from Akron Police, officers responded to a shooting at a Halloween party at a home in the 100 block of Paris Avenue around 10:46 p.m.

Officers arrived to find an 18-year-old girl severely injured with an apparent gunshot wound.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were also found with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the two ran away from the incident after being shot.

The younger teens are expected to recover, according to police, but the 18-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending further investigation.

Based on preliminary investigation, during the Halloween party, an unknown man took out a gun and fired shots while inside the house striking the teens.

Officers detained an 18-year-old man after a short foot chase and recovered a handgun which he tossed while fleeing from police.

However, it is unknown at this time what role, if any, the man played in the shooting. Detectives are still working to determine who fired the shots.

Police charged the man with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business. According to the release, officers sent him to Summit County Jail where he was booked.
