US singer Loomis has apologised for her rendition of the national anthem after huge backlash to the chaotic performance.
The artist gave a surprising rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner at an independent candidate debate on Wednesday.
Unbeknown to the artist, the performance was broadcast live on the television station C-SPAN, which caused a bit of an issue when she made a vocal error.
Rather than continuing after her voice broke while trying for a high note, the singer said: ‘I f****d it up, I f****d it up, can I go, can I go back, please?’
Someone off-stage whispered that the performance was live, so the singer quickly continued singing, acting like nothing had happened.
The live chaos shocked fans as they watched the singer butcher the song and swear multiple times on live television, in what was supposed to be an emotional patriotic moment.
Loomis apologised for her performance on social media: ‘Hey, everyone! 🌟 I want to take a moment to apologize to the amazing team at @FreeAndEqualElections, their incredible production crew, and all of you who were watching! 🇺🇸🎤
She revealed she was late and blamed her poor performance on being ‘flustered’.
‘I was a little late there and didn’t have a clear cue, which left me flustered when we went live! I know it wasn’t my best, and I’m truly sorry if it didn’t hit the mark.
‘I take full responsibility on my part and ask that you don’t use this incident to reflect on the artist I’m am and trying to be.
She concluded: ‘I’m so grateful for the opportunity and all the love and support I’ve received. I’m taking this as a lesson learned, and I can’t wait to come back even stronger! 🙏💖’
Fans were astounded by the performance and quickly compared it to Fergie’s controversial 2018 performance of the national anthem.
Many suggested Fergie would likely be delighted and could ‘rest now’ that a singer had given an even worse performance than her.

After Fergie went rogue with the US national anthem at the NBA All-Star game, she also released an apology.
Speaking to TMZ, she addressed her bluesy rendition of the tune which had the audience sniggering.
‘I’ve always been honoured and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,’ the former Black Eyed Peas singer said.
‘I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone.’
‘I love this country and honestly tried my best,’ she concluded.
