Ex-BBC man John Barnes laid into Sky Sports after they ditched their Scottish Premiership coverage on ref watch to cover Erik ten Hag‘s sacking.

The Dutchman was given his marching orders following Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at West Ham United, a result which leaves the Red Devils 14th in the English Premier League and with just eight goals from nine league games so far this season. The Old Trafford club revealed the breaking news around 11:50am today – just as Sky Sports were trawling through the weekend’s controversial incidents in their weekly ‘Ref Watch’ segment with former official Dermot Gallagher.

But fans north of the border waiting for analysis of the biggest talking points in the Scottish Premiership, such as Celtic‘s penalty claim against Motherwell, or Ranger midfielder Connor Barron‘s potential red card tackle against St Mirren, were left bitterly disappointed, as the segment cut short to cover ten Hag’s dismissal – much to the dismay of former BBC broadcaster Barnes.
