Celtic’s big guns are raring to go ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Dundee with captain Callum McGregor pictured in training.
The skipper missed Sunday’s win over Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership with an abductor injury but took part in full training alongside the rest of the Hoops squad as Brendan Rodgers put his players through their paces with the Taysiders heading to Parkhead as part of a full league midweek card.
Star defender Cameron Carter-Vickers also stepped up his fitness after making his return from a toe injury in the victory over the Steelmen. The USA international came on for the last 22 minutes, replacing on-loan Barcelona man Alex Valle at Fir Park.
Auston Trusty and Liam Scales have stepped up to the play in the absence of Carter-Vickers but the ex Tottenham Hotspur man will now join the fight for a place in the starting XI as the champions continue their strong defence of the title.
Boss Rodgers gave an update to Celtic TV on McGregor on Monday evening, saying: “With Callum, we’re just waiting to hear back but we think that’s good news with him.
“It won’t do Callum any harm to miss a game as he is so consistent and committed. You know that when it’s a niggle with him, it has to be quite sore for him to not be involved.
“We are hopeful that it’s just fatigue with him. You see his numbers, he has covered the most distance in the Champions League. We are hopeful he could be involved on Wednesday, and if not definitely Saturday.”
