NEW YORK (CNN) – A New York City museum curator has discovered a previously unknown waltz written by Frédéric Chopin.
It’s the first new piece of work by the Polish composer found since the late 1930s.
The Morgan Library and Museum’s curator found the waltz in 2019.
He then sought outside help to authenticate it.
A Chopin expert said extensive research points to the strong likelihood that the piece is by Chopin.
The museum’s director calls the discovery “thrilling.”
The curator said hearing this work for the first time will be an exciting moment for everyone in the classical piano world.
