Councillors have approved 13 new projects recommended by community groups across North Lanarkshire.

The council’s communities committee has agreed to recommendations made under the community board development plan which it recognises as achievable within future financial years.

The proposals were contained within a report of progress made across the local authority which also highlighted recently completed projects such as a new junior area at Kirkwood in Coatbridge, the resurfacing of a path in Branchalwood Estate in Wishaw and the restoration of artwork at Meadowhead underpass in Cumbernauld.

Another important aspect of this work is the development of 24 new play areas across North Lanarkshire, and as of September 22 were completed with the other two expected to soon also be finished.

The newly approved projects, to take place in six of North Lanarkshire’s nine community board areas, include footpath surfacing in Ballochney Road, Plains, the creation of an outdoor gym in Motherwell, and a multi use games area in Wishaw.
