BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia announced they have approved a settlement concerning pipeline replacement and upgrades for Mountaineer Gas Company.
The replacements and upgrades will take place over a five-year period, and Mountaineer Gas petitioned on July 31 for the Commission to approve its 2025 Infrastructure Replacement and Expansion Program.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) said the company proposed to invest $418 million in infrastructure replacement, system upgrades, and expansion ending in 2029, This includes $74 million for 2025.
The average user will see a 2.97 percent increase in their monthly bill, the PSC said. This will bring the average bill to $2.63.
Commercial users will see an increase of $6.92 a month, which the PSC says is effective January 1, 2025.
Mountaineer Gas said they believe the proposal will strengthen their distribution system, and over time, created really operational and safety benefits for its customers throughout the state.
A hearing scheduled for November 4 was canceled, according to the PSC.
