A Scots soldier has been booted out of the army after sending pictures of his penis to a woman.
Adam Scott McNee, from Glasgow, sent the explicit image to a woman and a number of text messages that were indecent in their nature. He was convicted with disgraceful conduct of an indecent kind at a military court in the Court Martial Centre, Catterick, on September 4, after pleading guilty to the offence on June 27.
The Sergeant Major from the 102 nd Battalion The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers was sentenced to ten months in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete 240 hours of unpaid work within 12 months. He was also dismissed from the Armed Forces and redcued to rank.
The Armed Forces are currently working to ensure victims of indecent and sexual conduct feel empowered to come forward and are properly supported when they do so.
A spokesperson for the army said they are determined to stop this type of ‘unnaceptable behaviour.’ They confirmed that McNee had been dismissed and said that this type of conduct ‘has no place in our Armed Forces.’
Since leaving the army the 54-year-old is now understood to be working as a driving instructor at the ASM school of motoring in and around the Glasgow area.
ASM school of motoring, which operates in East Kilbride, Castlemilk and Glasgow, is still open for business according to their Facebook page and claims to have a long waiting list.
McNee is listed as a director for the driving school on Companies House. The firm was first registered to a property in Castlemilk in October of 2019 under the name ASM Driving Training Ltd.
McNee is registered as the only person with significant control of the company.
Their website confirms that the driving school is registered with The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and say they make “learning to drive a fun and enjoyable experience, whilst in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.”
Approved Driving Instructor’s (ADI) must declare their criminal convictions and complete a disclosure with the DVSA, who then decide whether this person is ‘fit and proper.’
The DVSA decides who is ‘fit and proper’ by deciding if their standards, conduct or behaviour are likely to pose a risk to the public.
A DVSA spokesperson said: “The safety of learner drivers is our priority and we treat complaints seriously and in confidence.”
The ASM school of motoring was approached for comment.
An Army Spokesperson said: “Ex-Warrant Officer Class 2 McNee’s conduct fell well below the high standards expected of both our leaders and personnel, and as a result he’s been dismissed from the Army. This type of behaviour has no place in our Armed Forces.
“We’re determined to stamp out unacceptable behaviour and continue to take all allegations extremely seriously.”
