Netflix enthusiasts are on the lookout for the latest horror films to give them a fright this Halloween.
This year has seen a host of chilling Hollywood productions, including cinema favourites like Longlegs, Smile 2 (which is still showing) and The Substance, as well as streaming hits such as Don’t Move and The Deliverance.
As Halloween draws near, those who love a good scare are gearing up to sport their most terrifying outfits for parties or to accompany the little ones trick-or-treating.
Yet, there are also many who will choose to spend the evening indoors, snuggled up with a loved one or friends watching classic horrors, or even braving a solo movie marathon that’s sure to send shivers down their spine.
For those with a Netflix subscription and in search of new thrills to watch from behind their hands this Halloween, make sure not to miss the supernatural chiller Sting, premiering on Netflix come Thursday (October 31), reports the Mirror.
A word of caution for those with a fear of spiders – this film features yet another colossal arachnid creature, but it’s one that has been hailed by horror aficionados for its “excellent” novel twist since its initial release earlier in the year.
A glowing Google review states: “Excellent creature feature that would feel right at home in the 90s. The family is incredibly believable and the supporting cast are well rounded and fun to watch.
“The movie is much more gruesome than I expected which is always a plus and Sting itself looks great and is practical a decent portion of the time. A very fun time at the movies for sure!”
Another happy viewer noted: “I enjoyed it thoroughly. Some fun and creative ideas. A few jump scares, and good old fashioned practical effects mixed in with the CGI give it almost an old school feel as well as the modern.
“I’ll definitely be adding it to my list of movies to buy. Don’t listen to critics, see it for yourself.”
And another echoed the enthusiasm: “Loved it! I’m so glad I watched this in a well lit room and not sitting in a darkened movie theatre…wondering if something is crawling up the back of my seat. Great fun!”
Sky is giving away a free Netflix subscription to Sky Stream members, saving £119.76 over the 24-month term.
Sky Stream lets members watch live and on-demand TV content without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like The Penguin and the upcoming second season of Squid Game.

SkyLetterboxd, the film enthusiast social site, is abuzz with equally glowing five-star commentaries.
An overjoyed user exclaimed there: “Absolutely derangedly silly movie, it knows how unserious it is and embraces it, incredibly mean as well, need to see more from this director fast.”
While another summed it up with relish: “A b****y good time. Alien meets Cujo but with Shelob.”
So, are you tempted to dive into this lauded creature feature?
But more intriguingly, will there be a follow-up offering us more eight-legged terror in a potential Sting sequel?
Sting will be available to stream on Netflix from Thursday, October 31.
