A cocaine-crazed teenager tried to force his way into a terrified elderly couple’s home then stripped and posted his underwear through their letterbox.
Lewis McShane also bit a police officer before he was finally restrained.
His lawyer, Ross Brown, told Airdrie Sheriff Court this week: “If ever there was an advert to young people about the dangers of cocaine this is it.”
McShane, 19, of Cuparhead Avenue, Coatbridge, admitted assault, public indecency and threatening or abusive behaviour in the town’s Langloan Crescent on June 19 last year.
The court heard the couple, who are in their 70s, were asleep when McShane turned up in the common close shortly after midnight.
He was shouting and banging on doors. The elderly man opened his door to see if he could help but McShane tried to barge past him, shouting, “let me in, let me in”.
The pensioner fell to the floor but managed to get up and shoved McShane back into the close.
The couple alerted the police and saw a pair of boxer shorts being put through the letterbox.
Officers arrived to find McShane still in the close, naked and shouting abuse. He appeared to be sweating and his eyes were glazed.
He threw a doormat, hitting an officer with it, then bit the same officer who ended up in hospital and needed a Hepatitis B jag.
Another officer was spat at and kicked.
McShane also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour at High Coats tower block in Coatbridge the previous day.
The court heard he threatened the concierge and caused damage to an office door after demanding a spare key.
Mr Brown pointed out the offences happened when McShane was only 17, adding: “He has the support of his family and his addiction problems have been addressed.”
Sheriff Scott Pattison deferred sentence until December for background reports.
