A dozen men have now been charged after ‘violent disorder’ broke out after a football match in Edinburgh earlier this month – with cops making a further four arrests.
Police launched a probe into behaviour of football fans following the Hibernian v Motherwell match at Easter Road on Saturday, October 5.
Officers have made a host of arrests since the incident, with a total of 12 charged following the street disorder in the capital’s St Andrew Square.
Detectives today confirmed that two men aged 19, one aged 24 and a 16-year-old male youth have all been charged.
Last week, on Friday, October 25, police confirmed that five men aged, 32, 21, 20, 19 and 18 had been charged following the violent scenes.
Initially, four men aged 16, 17, 18 and 22 were all charged with the alleged offences. Two more people were arrested at the time before being released without charge.
Police say the five men arrested and charged today have been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date. Football banning orders are also being sought.
Chief Inspector Craig Rogerson said: “Officers work hard to create a safe environment not just at football matches but also after the event.
“These arrests send a strong message that we will not tolerate football related disorder in any form.”
